Nadia

Nadia came to Destiny House in December 2004. Nadia's behavior was defiant -- she had run away from home several times and was doing poorly in school.

During her stay at Destiny House, Nadia has set many goals for herself, and, with the help of the staff at Destiny House and Community Base Care, she's achieved many of them. She now has a part-time job, and her grades have improved greatly each quarter.

Nadia is now going into the Independent Living Program, where she'll be living in an apartment with another client. We are proud of her and all that she has accomplished since she has been at Destiny House. She reminds us about the important work we do and that good things do result from hard work.

I asked Nadia how Destiny House helped her, and she said we gave her life structure and discipline, and she developed confidence when she achieved her goals. Now that she's more mature, she recognizes destructive behavior in the younger girls who are new to Destiny House, and she strives to serve as a positive role model for them.

Nadia is growing up and is interested in reaching her goals: to become independent, finish high school and go to college. Nadia is off to a good start, and we're rooting for her!
