Mentoring
With the simple act of being a friend, each mentor makes a world of difference to a child.
We remain committed to nurturing the positive mentoring relationships between our current mentors and enrolled youth. However, we regret that we are no longer accepting applications or referrals for new mentors or youth. Please see more opportunities to get involved and make a difference in the lives of local children!

More than 2,000 children in North Florida have a parent who is incarcerated. Not only are the parents paying their debt to society, but their children who are left behind suffer significantly from a situation over which they had no control. A mentor can provide guidance, support and, most importantly, friendship to help children develop to their full potential.
CHS established the Mentors Opening Doors Enriching Lives (MODEL) Program in 2005. This one-to-one, community-based mentoring program is structured to help youth build trust and communication skills, resulting in improved academic performance and stronger family relationships, and to be more equipped to avoid negative activities or peer relationship.
