Ryan and the Tree House Emergency Shelter

Five-year-old Ryan came to the Tree House Emergency Shelter after it became unsafe for him to live at home. His mother, suffering from mental illness, wasn't properly caring for Ryan; he wore dirty clothes and ofund his dinner in trash cans. He had not been in school for three weeks. When Ryan came to Tree House, he had a respiratory infection, his speech was delayed, and he cried frequently for his mother. The Tree House staff helped Ryan learn how to properly care for his hygeine and how to brush his teeth independently. He even learned proper table manners, as he no longer had to worry about where his next meal was coming from. Ryan began talking about his anger and learned how to express his feelings appropriately. Before long, Ryan joined a loving foster family ready to help him on his journey toward healing.
