Mid-Florida
Adoption Orientation
All children deserve the love, nurturing and security only a family can provide. Through adoption, CHS helps bring together loving families and children.
We'd be happy to speak with you about our adoption services and the children available for adoption. If you’re interested in opening your heart and home to a child longing for your love, please attend one of our Adoption Orientations.
Frequently Asked Questions about Adoption
How much does it cost?
It does not cost families anything to attend MAPP classes or to complete the home study. Expenses associated with adopting a child in foster care are nominal, and medical and legal fees are generally reimbursed by the state of Florida, up to $1,000. CHS covers costs that occur at the time of finalization.
Is there an age limit for adoptive parents?
No. We take a comprehensive look at the family, including health history.
Is it possible to adopt a healthy infant?
By the time younger children's cases are transferred to the adoption unit, they typically have an identified placement (relative, foster parent or non-relative) that wants to adopt them. If infants are transferred to our unit without identified placement, they typically have moderate to severe special needs.
Orientation Schedule:
