Come One, Come All, to the Circus at the Ball

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (September 21, 2011) – The East Broward Auxiliary of the Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS) will host its 21st Annual Black Tie Ball October 22, 2011, at the Westin Resort and Spa Fort Lauderdale. Event proceeds will benefit CHS’ Intercoastal Division. The theme this year is “Come One, Come All, to the Circus at the Ball,” and the evening will feature a cast of international cirque professionals, a casino, live music from the Valarie Tyson Band and much more. The Master of Ceremonies will be Neki Mohan from Local 10 News.
Event Co-Chairs Dee Flynn and Debra Lyonnais hope the ball will raise $150,000 to benefit local children and families served by CHS. The East Broward Auxiliary, with honorary chairpersons I. Lorraine Thomas and David Cassidy, invite corporations, local businesses and individuals to support the Black Tie Ball and help reach the goal. Sponsorship and corporate underwriting opportunities are available, ranging from $50 to $25,000. Individual tickets are $200. Sponsors include I. At the ball, CHS will honor Kaplan University with the prestigious R. David and I. Lorraine Thomas Child Advocate of the Year Award. This is the highest honor CHS bestows upon individuals and groups that have made a significant impact toward improving the lives of homeless, neglected and abused children throughout Florida.
The signature event for CHS’ Intercoastal Division, The Black Tie Ball has raised more than $3 million over the past 20 years to benefit Broward County’s abused and neglected children served by CHS, including children residing in the I. Lorraine Thomas Children’s Home and Family Support Center, a therapeutic group home for boys.

About East Broward Auxiliary:
Twenty-two years ago, five special women Janice Lahaye, Pam Masters, Lucille DeAngelo, Kathy Clarkson and Bijette Gebron founded the East Broward Auxiliary (EBA). These special women wanted to make a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children in our community. Together with I. Lorraine Thomas they spearheaded a capital campaign that raised over $3.2 million to build the I. Lorraine Thomas Children’s Home and Family Support Center.
