About the Intercoastal Division

History
Established in 1967 as the 11th division of Children’s Home Society
of Florida (CHS), the Intercoastal Division serves children and
families throughout Broward County. Perhaps best known for our
I. Lorraine Thomas Children’s Home and Family Support Center,
which features a group home for 12 boys, a community conference
room and administrative offices, we also offer a wide array of services
designed to protect children and strengthen families. Our East
Broward Auxiliary, created in 1989 to raise funds for the home,
launched a capital campaign led by Dave and Lorraine Thomas that
allowed us to open the home debt-free in 1994. The auxiliary remains
intricately involved with the Intercoastal Division, helping us raise
valuable funds to serve local children. Every day, the Intercoastal
Division serves more than 1,800 children and families in our
Broward community.
