Think back to your childhood … do you remember your excitement when your birthday was approaching? The days couldn’t go by fast enough! But what if you didn’t have a family to celebrate with you … what if you didn’t have anyone at all to remember your special day?

To be sure that never happens to a local child who’s already suffered trauma, Kerri Whitt has been baking homemade cakes for every child at Joshua House on his or her birthday. This year, in honor of her dedication, we named her Outstanding Volunteer of the Year. Throughout the 12 years she’s volunteered with us, Kerri has baked nearly 1,100 cakes! This simple gesture means more than you can imagine for our children. Kerri is an exceptional woman who has brought smiles to the faces of our children, helping to remind them just how truly special they are.
