Announcing the Lewis G. Schaeneman Foundation Computer Lab at Joshua House
Release date: 6/16/2010
Children's Home Society of Florida (CHS) announces that the Lewis G. Schaeneman Foundation, Inc., has made a gift to the Joshua House residential program to assist in the renovation of a new computer lab in the Thomas House. The Thomas House was named after one of the original founders, Bob Thomas, and opened in 1992. Due to a shift from serving youth ages 0-13 to 8-17, the house needs a place for youth to concentrate on their studies, computer skills and socialization. The grant will provide the necessary funds to renovate, paint and furnish a room to be named The Lewis G. Schaeneman Foundation, Inc., Computer Lab. The anticipated completion date of the full renovation, including a game room and library, is August 2010. CHS thanks the family foundation for making this dream a reality for our kids.
Joshua House, a program of CHS, is an emergency residential shelter providing group care and shelter services for up to 36 children ages 6-17 who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Staffed by caring workers who provide 24-hour awake supervision, Joshua House is located on an 11-acre campus comprised of several ranch-style homes and includes therapy, case management, behavioral interventions and recreational activities.
