VIP Visits

VIP Visits are Children's Home Society of Florida (CHS) open houses that give community members the opportunity to learn about our mission and see our programs first-hand. Attendees have a chance to mingle and network, meet CHS staff, learn about what CHS is doing to reduce child abuse rates, and even tour our locations and meet some of our children!

VIP Visits are held the last Wednesday of every month. Each month, the highlighted program will change.

The Perinatal Program provides support and parenting education to first-time parents in Seminole County. Participants engage in peer group meetings, parenting classes, social events and one-on-one professional or volunteer support.

The primary purpose of the program is to prevent the occurrence or reoccurrence of abuse or neglect. The program increases parents’ knowledge of child development and equips them with coping skills to help handle the demands and stresses of child rearing. The Perinatal Program is a voluntary service that encourages the active participation of “high-risk” and self-referred first-time parents in Seminole County.

A Place For Children

Wednesday May 25 and July 27, 2011, 12-1 p.m.
Please contact Erika Turkevicius for exact location and to RSVP
321-397-3025 or Erika.Turkevicius@chsfl.org

A Place for Children provides free childcare to guard children from exposure to the reality of court business. The drop-in center located within the Orange County Courthouse is licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families.

“[The courtroom] was not a TV you could just turn off. The kids were captives. No one can argue that it’s good for kids to be exposed to real life tragedies.”- Circuit Judge Cynthia MacKinnon, on why we need A Place for Children

Annually, A Place for Children keeps more than 1,500 children from witnessing courtroom experience and provides a safe place in which families can trust their children will be well cared for while parents are in the courtroom.
