At the event, guests heard about our work, child welfare issues and the challenges and successes we see each and every day in our efforts to protect children. The highlight of the event was a personal story of success from a CHS MODEL Mentor mentor/mentee match, Danielle and Sabrina.
Danielle is a 15-year-old young lady whose mother is incarcerated. She was made responsible for her younger sibling at an early age, was forced to grow up early and developed really low self-esteem. Three years ago, Danielle was matched with a mentor through our MODEL Mentor program.
The relationship was instant and, over the years, Danielle's self-esteem has improved, and her outlook on her life is now very positive. Sabrina has taught Danielle to set goals for herself and to reach for the stars. Danielle is a bright, charming girl with an incredible future ahead of her thanks to the dedication and outpouring of love and guidance from Sabrina.
It doesn't take an extraordinary person to create a success story like Sabrina and Danielle, just you! CHS makes a difference in children's lives every day. You can, too, by joining us in the fight against child abuse.
