Dion and the Crisis Nursery

Dion's mother and father were both arrested for domestic violence in the home. They got into physical confrontations during the mother's pregnancy and after the baby was born. Dion was removed from the home while both parents were incarcerated. When the parents were released from jail, they reconciled, refused services and continued the cycle of family violence.

Once Dion was removed, we learned he had several fractures of various stages of healing. The child was then entrusted to the care of Crisis Nursery, due to the family violence and physical abuse by both parents.

Dion stayed at the nursery while other relatives were being sought and appropriate home studies and background checks were being completed. Children's Home Society of Florida's Crisis Nursery was able to care for and nurture Dion until CHS could find a permanent home for him. Shortly before his first birthday, he was placed with an aunt and uncle, where he remains and has begun to thrive. The family receives services with the hope that the child will one day find a permanent home, either through reunification with his biological parents or adoption by his aunt and uncle.
