The Siragusa Family
Recovering from a previous marriage filled with abuse, living in a singlewide trailer and barely making ends meet, Katherine wished her haunting life circumstances would soon be over.
And then, Katherine became sick and unable to work when she became pregnant with Katelyn. She and her boyfriend, Thomas, weren't married yet, and she had no driver's license or transportation. Fortunately, she enrolled in CHS' Healthy Families St. Johns Program, which helped her learn how to be a good mother and get her life back on track.
Katherine credits the program for her many achievements and her newfound positive outlook on life. Healthy Families helped Katherine create a bond with her child and embrace the joys of being a mother. Through the program, she was also able to earn her GED, buy a bigger home, save for a car and open a family-owned construction company.
Katherine and Thomas are now married, and he is a wonderful husband and father. Thanks to the help they received from Healthy Families, they can provide Katelyn with the life she deserves.
