Jaime's story

Jaime was 16 when she learned she was pregnant. Scared and unsure of what to do, she prepared to have her child.

While in the doctor’s office, Jaime saw a brochure for Healthy Families of St. Johns, one of the many services of Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS). She signed the form and, two months later, received a phone call. Crystal was born last year, and family support workers began home visitations.

Jaime credits the program for letting her know what to expect about pregnancy, helping her raise her daughter and providing the right building blocks for Crystal at an early age. She says she couldn’t give Crystal the bright future she deserves without Children’s Home Society of Florida.

Although the stress of expecting a child caused her to quit school in 10th grade, Jaime is now taking online courses and will receive her high school diploma in six months. She works full time and plans to go to community college to pursue a nursing degree.
