CHS re-accredited by Council on Accreditation
Release date: 5/3/2009
Children's Home Society of Florida (CHS) has received full re-accreditation by the Council on Accreditation (COA), illustrating CHS’ commitment to maintaining the highest level of standards and quality improvement. The re-accreditation remains active through 2013.
COA’s accreditation and re-accreditation process identifies providers that have set high standards for themselves and have made a commitment to constituents to deliver the highest quality of services. CHS has been continuously accredited by COA since 1982.
The objective COA reaccreditation process involves a detailed review and analysis of both an organization’s administrative operations and its service delivery practices. All are measured against national standards of best practice. These standards emphasize services that are accessible, appropriate, culturally responsive, evidence-based and outcomes-oriented. Additionally, COA accreditation confirms that services are provided by a skilled and supported workforce, and all individuals are treated with dignity and respect.
Because COA reviews and reaccredits the entire organization, not just specific programs, accreditation signifies credibility, integrity and achievement of the entire organization.
CHS is one of only 1,800 organizations in the United States and Canada accredited by COA and is the second-largest non-governmental not-for-profit organization accredited by COA.
